General Meeting: February 26, 2013 at 10 a.m.

General Meetings are a time to welcome visitors, hear guest speakers and discuss club business. All residents of Greater Winston-Salem are invited to join us. General Meetings are held at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 1416 Bolton Street (just off Silas Creek Parkway via the Bolton Street exit) at 10 a.m. on the fourth Tuesday of each month, except August and December.

Speaker:   Wendi Hartup, Natural Resources Extension Agent, Forsyth County

THINK SPRING!!!!   SUMMER FLOWERS!!!!   Wendi Hartup from the North Carolina Cooperative Extension will be our guest speaker.  She has a master's degree in Fisheries Conservation from Auburn University and a bachelor's degree in Marine Biology from Troy University.   Ms. Hartup will be presenting a program entitled "9 Steps to a Carolina Yard."  Come and learn the 9 basic principles for a yard that works with the environment while saving you time, money and energy.  As you incorporate these principles (RIGHT PLANT; RIGHT PLACE; RIGHT CARE), you can build a beautiful low maintenance garden that attracts wildlife, resists pests,  and is environmentally friendly.

BOOK CLUB – Monday, February 4.  The book group will meet at 10 a.m. to discuss Melanie Benjamin’s novel, The Autobiography of Mrs. Tom Thumb.

NIGHT CARDS – Wednesday, February 6.  Night cards will be held at 7 p.m. 

WINE GROUP – Saturday, February 9.  Wine Group will meet at 7:30 p.m.

BOARD MEETING – Tuesday, February 12.  The Board will meet at 10 a.m.

BRIDGE – Thursday, February 14.  Bridge group will meet at 12:30 p.m. 

CRAFTS GROUP - There is no meeting planned for Crafts Group in February.

GALLERY GROUP – Friday, February 15.  Gallery Group will meet at 11 a.m.

DAY CARDS – Thursday, February 21.  Day cards will be at 1 p.m.

LUNCH GROUP – Thursday, February 28.  Lunch Group will meet at 11:30 a.m.

Speaker:   Sergeant Charles Sayers, Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office  

Sergeant Sayers will share tips and information to help us increase our personal safety.  He will cover helpful topics such as identity theft and scams aimed at seniors – all with a good sense of humor.  Sergeant Sayers has been with the Sheriff's Office for 30 years and feels fortunate that he has been assigned to every aspect of the Department. This has given him a broad background for his present position as the head of the Crime Prevention Unit which allows him to make presentations that keep the public informed on personal safety.
