JULY SPEAKER: Toni Holiday from the Very Vegetarian Society of Winston-Salem
We will welcome Toni Holiday, who will tell us
about the Very Vegetarian Society of Winston Salem.
The Society was
founded in 1990 to provide education and support to those who are vegetarian or
who want to become vegetarian. Members provide education materials
at health related conventions, contribute articles to newspapers and
coordinate appearances for national speakers and authors, such as Neal
Barnard, MD (Breaking
the Food Seduction), Agatha Thrash, M.D. (Food Allergies Made
Simple), Michael Klaper, M.D. (PBS
television productions, "Food for Thought," and the award winning,
"Diet for a New America."), Howard
Lyman (Mad Cowboy),
and Brenda
Davis, R.D. (Becoming Vegetarian).
Meetings are held at 6:30
p.m. on the first Tuesday of the month
at Miller Park Recreation Center. You do not need to be a member to attend the
meetings. Meetings include vegan potluck
dinners and guest speakers, and are open to anyone who is interested in
vegetarianism, whether a vegetarian for years or just starting out. Attendees should bring one vegan dish (no meat, dairy or eggs, please) to serve eight,
a copy of the recipe to share, and personal eating utensils, plates and cups.
