GENERAL MEETING: TUESDAY, JUNE 25, 2013

General Meetings are a time to welcome visitors, hear guest speakers and discuss club business. All residents of Greater Winston-Salem are invited to join us. General Meetings are held at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 1416 Bolton Street (just off Silas Creek Parkway via the Bolton Street exit) at 10 a.m. on the fourth Tuesday of each month, except August and December.

Speaker:  Sergeant Charles Sayers, Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office 

Sergeant Sayers will return to provide more information to help us prevent identity theft and scams aimed at seniors – all with a good sense of humor.  Sergeant Sayers has been with the Sheriff's Office for 30 years and feels fortunate that he has been assigned to every aspect of the Department. This has given him a broad background for his present position as the head of the Crime Prevention Unit which allows him to make presentations that keep the public informed on personal safety.

BOOK CLUB – Monday, June 3. The book group will meet at 10 a.m.to discuss Barbara Kingsolver’s Flight Behavior.    

NIGHT CARDS – Wednesday, June 5.  Night cards will be held at 7 p.m.

SOCIAL – Saturday, June 8.  The social group will meet from 4 to 8 p.m.

BOARD MEETING – Tuesday, June 11.  The Board will meet at 10 a.m. 

BRIDGE – Thursday, June 13.  Bridge group will meet at 12:30 p.m. 

LUNCH GROUP – Thursday, June 20.  Lunch Group will meet at 11:30 a.m. 

GALLERY GROUP – Friday, June 21.  Gallery Group will meet at 11:30 a.m. 

DAY CARDS – Thursday, June 27.  Day cards will be at 1 p.m.

Speaker:  R. Michael Wells, Sr., Attorney-at-Law, Wells Jenkins Attorneys, Winston-Salem 

Mr. Wells is a prominent attorney in Winston-Salem as well as North Carolina, who received his education at University of Virginia and Wake Forest. He has presented lectures on a wide spectrum of topics dealing with State and local laws. Mr. Wells will be speaking to us about Estate Administration, Medicaid Planning and Elder Law.  Not only has he been practicing law for nearly 40 years, but he is very active in the community.   One of his favorite service activities is tutoring high-school students who are at risk of dropping out of school.  He and his wife have three children and two grandchildren.
