General Meetings are a time
to welcome visitors, hear guest speakers and discuss club business. All
residents of Greater Winston-Salem are invited to join us. General Meetings are
held at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 1416 Bolton Street (just off Silas Creek
Parkway via the Bolton Street exit) at 10 a.m. on the fourth Tuesday of each
month, except August and December
Speaker: Norman Ussery, Executive Director, Twin City
Stage
Formerly known as
the Little Theatre of Winston-Salem, Twin City Stage (TCS) is one of the
longest-running community theatres in the Nation. Volunteers perform on one of the largest
stages in the area and are proud of the professional quality entertainment they
provide. Volunteers also work behind the
scenes to produce each season’s shows.
Mr. Ussery has been
the Executive Director since 2006.
Originally from the U.S. Virgin islands, he brought to the TCS an
extensive background managing both professional and amateur community theatre
companies, including the Island Center for the Performing Arts in St. Croix,
the Community Arts Center in Williamsport, PA, and the Tallahassee, FL Little
Theatre. Mr. Ussery was educated at Duke
University, and spent a number of years in the Triangle area, working with the
Carolina Regional Theatre and the North Carolina Theatre. He also worked with the Flat Rock Playhouse
and spent summers for nearly a decade working with the outdoor drama, “Unto
These Hills” in Cherokee.
TCS welcomes new
and returning volunteers to support its productions. Volunteer opportunities
include acting, directing, stage managing, props, light crew, sound, costumes,
dressing actors, and ushering and other “front of house” duties. If you are interested in volunteering,
contact Megan Jones on 336-748-0857, Ext. 1.
