Cookies, cookies, and more cookies! Do you bake a ton of cookies during the holidays, but quickly get tired of the same 3 types you made!? Why not come to the cookie exchange with 7 dozen of one kind and leave with 6 dozen of MANY different kinds! We have many talented bakers among us so take advantage of it by joining in the fun! Our speaker for November will be Joe Mills who wrote: “Opening a bottle of wine is an act of optimism!” In addition to authoring several books of poetry, he (along with his wife) has written A Guide to North Carolina’s Wineries. The Yadkin Valley, North Carolina’s first federally recognized American Viticultural Area, has more than 20 wineries and over 400 acres of vineyards. At our November meeting, Mr. Mills will share his insights into the history of wine growing in our region, the techniques used to produce a good vintage, and the variety of wines and activities available at the vineyards. He will also discuss possibilities for the holidays!

As part of our October meeting (held at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 1416 Bolton Street) we will be collecting items for the Humane Society. The are in need of the following:
Purina dog/puppy & cat/kitten chow, Liquid Dish Soap & laundry detergent (High Efficiency only), Postage Stamps & office supplies (tape, pens, white copy paper), Non-clumping cat litter, Hand soap and sanitizer, bleach and paper towels, 13 and 33 gallon trash bags, Dog toys (especially for larger dogs to chew — "Nyla" bones are good), NO RAWHIDE

Our speaker for this month will be Women's Fund representative Patti Hubbard. She'll share some of the results of the research that led to the publication of Through a Gender Lens: The Economic Security of Women and Girls in Forsyth County.
